AFTER
It's publication day! And I'm doing a happy dance. Just take a look at this.
I can’t tell you how downright honoured I feel to be a part
of this YA anthology of stories about what happens after the apocalypse – after the change, the meteor strike, the
plague, the flood, the third World War, any number of other catastrophes that
you can imagine and several that you can’t. It’s out today, ninth of October!
And here’s the front cover. Which
is awesome.
Obviously I can’t properly review
this book, since I do have a story in it (‘Visiting Nelson’) and am
definitely an interested party: but the writers’ names should speak for
themselves, as should those of the editors, legendary duo Ellen Datlow and Terri
Windling. I can't even say
which stories are my favourites – in any case, they are all so different I keep changing my
mind. Some are horrifying, many are very touching, some are full of black humour, some
are audacious and fantastic.
The book itself is a beautiful physical
object, with a gorgeous, slightly roughened, very tactile cover you want
to keep brushing your fingers over.
